Free gossypol was determined, using AOCS method Ba 7–58, in 11 varieties of cottonseed cultivated in Iran and six samples of cottonseed cake from three oil plants in (A) Pars, (B) Margarin and (C) Varamin. The mean value for free gossypol in normal glanded cottonseed samples (n = 8) was 1·14%. For the native cottonseed variety (Arya) 0·53% free gossypol was obtained, which was significantly lower than the normal glanded samples. The value for the hybridized sample (Sahel × GL4) was very low (only 0·11%). No gossypol was detected in the glandless cottonseed variety (Coker 100 A). The average amount of free gossypol in cottonseed cake samples from oil plants (A) and (B) was 0·026% and in (C) it was 0·16%.

使用AOCS方法Ba 7-58，在伊朗种植的11种棉籽和6种来自（A）Pars，（B）Margarin和（C）Varamin的三种油料植物的棉籽饼样品中测定游离棉酚。正常的棉花样品（n = 8）中游离棉酚的平均值为1.14％。对于天然棉籽品种（Arya），获得了0.53％的游离棉酚，其显着低于普通的棉花样品。杂交样品（Sahel×GL 4）的值非常低（仅为0.11％）。在无腺体棉籽品种（Coker 100 A）中未检测到棉酚。来自油料植物（A）和（B）的棉籽饼样品中游离棉酚的平均量为0.026％，而（C）中的游离棉酚样品的平均量为0.16％。
