Neurodegenerative diseases (ND) are a large group of pathologies characterized by the progressive loss of selective neurons population with various factors that trigger their pathogenesis. With time the research about these increases exponentially, therefore, in the present chapter, we focus only on the most recent clinical biomarkers reported for ND such as Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs), and ischemic stroke that have age as a common risk factor. Since individuals become more vulnerable to develop some ND with age. Additionally, in the last section, we delve into the recent role of microbiota dysbiosis and probiotics consumption in age-related neurodegenerative diseases (ARND) and remark the importance of this relatively new and quite promising field for the development of new treatment strategies in the clinic.
