Ovarian stimulation and intrauterine insemination
摘要
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is the first-line assisted reproduction technology for patients with no major findings in their clinical assessment. In this chapter, we discuss its indications, limitations, and risks and the different protocols used in the various stages of this therapeutic approach. We describe the logistics of the natural cycle IUI and that of the different stimulation protocols available and compare their efficacy. We assess the criteria for cycle cancellation and the available mechanisms for the triggering of the final steps of oocyte maturation and ovulation, the number of inseminations to be performed per cycle, and the cares to be taken in the luteal phase.
